I just came home after an exciting
adventure - Yarn shopping. I was in touch with this organization
called Allkraftz for quite some time. I had been visiting their website, and used to browse through their products, not quite sure of online purchase of yarns.
How I got to know
them is an even more interesting story: I once bought a crochet
needle from a Mumbai-based business. The product was branded KnitPro. From the package box, I found out the address and phone
number which led me to Allkraftz. The location was hardly 20 km from my
residence, so I decided to try visiting them. A couple of emails back and forth, I went there today with
my son, a pesky teen at 13.
I was new to that part of the city and had to
use the navigator in my mobile to explore the location. After making
a couple of phone calls and with the help of some helpful street
vendors and passersby, we finally reached our destination almost 45
minutes late. To my surprise, we were welcomed with warmth even
though we were running late.
Has anyone ever felt like bull in a china shop?
As cliche as it sounds, that was exactly what we were. They flooded us
with choices, we got so confused and ended up grabbing it all like
crazy! Finally, somehow I came to my senses that I have enough and more to
call a stash and I have to come home with all the irresistible yarn, to
my husband whose reaction I couldn't predict at that time of frenzy.
So I decided to be very careful about my
purchase, thus adding only 800 grams (just over 3000 yards!) of Diva, which I couldn't resist because of its luscious squishy tenderness and sheen, to my ever expanding stash of
yarn, which was already overflowing to take up part of my bedroom too. May I confess that I added a couple of hooks to my collection too. Which crocheter could resist a couple of hooks!?
As it was past their closing time, I just handed over the money and am
now awaiting the parcel. Will post pictures of the yarn and the hooks
once I receive the package.
It was a very enjoyable experience and would
like to do the same more often, definitely after completing the top I plan to make with it and wearing it to the same place with my head
held high.
